Feature overview of the QuickConnect I/O system:

  • Designed for easier and faster connection of Airbus overhead panels to a PC based flight simulator

  • Reliable Ethernet LAN connection

  • Uses standard 28V supply power. The boards have their own voltage converters

  • Up to 16 controller boards per network.

  • Up to 9 driver boards per controller board. Each driver board can control 10 Korry type switches

  • High current driver transistors can support older lamp type Korry switches

  • Additional support for ELEC panel voltage meters and Analog selectors (potentiometers)

  • Optional support for the connection of up 12 non-Korry type switches per controller (push buttons, Toggle switches and rotary selector switches)

  • The QuickConnect system is designed to make the connection of original Airbus overhead panels to a PC based Flight Simulator as convenient and fast as possible.

  • It consists of controller boards with Ethernet LAN connection to the PC and driver boards that can directly plug into Korry type switches with custom adapters.

  • It supports X-Plane in combination with all Toliss aircraft (A319/A320/A321/A340-600) and Prepar3D with Jeehell A320.

  • For requests to support of other aircraft please contact Cavoksim.

The wiring of genuine Airbus panels to a flight Simulator is normally very time consuming work. There are different approaches to archive this: It is possible to reuse the original MIL type connectors  and solder to the leftover wires attached to this connectors. This also requires documents about the internal wiring of all panels and the connector pinouts. The second approach is to cut all wires to the panel backplate and solder directly new connections to all switches. Both approaches require to correctly identify and solder to every single of the hundreds of wires connected to the many lamps and switches. This work will take typical several months or longer.

The design goal of the QuickConnect system is to make this tedious work easier. The idea is to have small and cheap interface boards that can be installed directly on each panel instead of the original back plate. This boards can plug in directly into standard Korry type switch sockets (plug and play). This makes it possible to connect all Korry switches of a board in minutes. There are also options to connect most other switches and indicators found on overhead panels like toggle switches, analog selectors and even the voltmeters of the ELEC panels. This makes other interface boards that are normally used for this purpose unnecessary and further simplifies the installation. Especially when interfacing A320 type panels there is only a minimum of soldering required.

These are the main components of the QuickConnect system:

I/O Controller UM-1

This LAN controller connects to the PC via a LAN cable. Ethernet LAN connections are more reliable than USB and prevent problems with signal interference. Up to 16 controllers per LAN network are supported. Each controller has 3 bus connectors that support up to 3 driver boards per bus. The maximum amount of supported Korry switches per controller is 90. The UM-1 can optionally have  a voltmeter module that allows the connection of  up to 2 panel voltmeters. It can display the voltage values on the OEM panel that are provided by the PC simulation. The UM-1 has its own 28V to 5V converter onboard. This further simplifies the wiring because 28V is commonly used in simulators.

I/O Driver UD-1

This driver board is designed to easily connect to up to 10 Korry type switches. It has robust driver transistors that can easily provide enough current to connect either Korry switches with incandescent lamps or modern LED Korry switches. The boards need an external  3..5V DC power supply for the Korry indicator lights. AC supply voltage is not supported. The board can also optionally read up to 4 toggle or other kind of non-Korry switches per board. Any kind of switch found on overhead panels can be connected. There is also a option available to have an A/D converter on the board to read up to 2 analog selector (potentiometer) inputs. The board electronics is supplied by the voltage generated on the controller board. An external power supply for the board is not necessary.

Korry Switch Adapter

The Korry adapters are designed for plug and play connection to all types of Korry switches. It replaces the original connectors because these are only used in aviation and therefor difficult to find and expensive. This adapters offer a reliable and much more affordable alternative. To further reduce the cost a kits can be purchased for self assembly of this adapters.

Connector cables

The QuickConnect I/O system uses commonly available and cheap XH2.54 connectors for both the Korry connections and the board to board bus connections. The standard cable length is 20cm. 30cm is also available. This is enough length to wire all types of panels.
