The Cavoksim MCDU interface kit can connect a original MCDU for use with a PC flight simulation. One kit is required per MCDU. This kit makes interfacing a genuine aircraft MCDU easy and safe!

The kit is designed for easy plug and play connections. Only basic technical knowledge is required.

It uses the Cavoksim QuickConnect Plug and Play system with custom connectors designed especially for the MCDU. This means easy connection with the MCDU using only a flat cable and power wires. No complicated and error prone DIY wiring is necessary anymore. The MCDU can easily be connected in minutes.

Just plug in the the adapters that come with the kit into the MCDU and connect the power supplies and the Ethernet cable. This is an easy solution that protects your valuable MCDU from potential damage due to DIY wiring errors.

The board is compatible with all MCDUs used in Airbus A318-A340 cockpits:

• All Honeywell CRT MCDU with 1 or 2 connectors (PNR K226, K275, 4077880, etc.)

• Honeywell LCD MCDUs

• Thales LCD MCDUs (PNR C19266 etc.)

Currently only  X-Plane 12 for Windows in combination with any ToLiss aircraft is supported. If you are interested in other software support, please contact us.

To operate original aircraft MCDUs, apart from the Cavoksim MCDU interface kit this equipment is required:

• 24-28V DC power supply, 2A minimum output

• 5V 10A DC power supply for basic keyboard backlighting (10A is needed for CRT MCDU models, LCD models need less power). To dim the backlight brightness like in the aircraft we recommend a Cavoksim LC-25B backlight controller in combination with a 12V supply.

• 115V AC/ 400Hz avionics power inverter (150W minimum). Aircraft static inverters (115V 400Hz only!) can be used.

• Forced air cooling of the MCDU (either with a powerful fan connected to a hose or a small vacuum cleaner). We can provide a STL file for 3D printing an adapter to connected a standard vacuum cleaner sized hose to the MCDU.

The MCDU interface kit contains an Cavoksim AR-33 Arinc 429 interface board with special firmware for MCDU data processing, 2 MCDU connector adapters and a connection cable. It is possible to manually wire the MCDU to the AR-33 board if desired without using the adapters

The AR-33 board used for this kit is our newest generation Arinc 429 interface that generates very high quality Arinc signals that are equal or better than what is used in aircrafts. The board has 3 RX (receive) and 3 TX (transmit) channels. Not all are used for the MCDU application, but the AR-33 can also be used to interface other avionics if desired.

The MCDU adapter contains a fuse and inrush current limiter and is fully isolated to make the power connection to the MCDU easy and safe.
